English
Please continue to support your child with their reading. Books and reading diaries should come into school daily. They can access Bug Club for Brown and Grey level books.
We will be sharing the fabulous book: How to Train Your Dragon. The children will be using this book to be able to write a set of detailed
instructions
on how to train their own dragon- these will be much better than Professor Yoddish’s- Yell at it! We will be writing a narrative, which includes a piece of characterizing speech.

Maths
This term we will be working on our times table recall- Get ready to become a Times Table Rock Star. Children should be accessing this at home regularly to improve their recall and speed in preparation for the Multiplication check in the Summer Term 2027
The topic we will cover are:
Decimals, Measurement including money Money and Statistics. Geometry which includes properties of shape , position and direction
Science
In science we will discover more about
How food is digested. We will Identify the different types of teeth in humans and animals. Children will know about the functions of different teeth. We will learn about dental health and the benefits of good oral hygiene and dental flossing, including regular check-ups at the dentist.
Computing
We will be working on ‘Sounds Stories’ thinking about why and how sound is added to stories. The will be ‘Unpacking Hardware and Software’ so we understand how computer systems are developed and implemented. We will have an ‘Introduction to AI’ so we are thinking about how AI is used. We will compose our own music using ‘Composing Beats.’
History
Our Topic is Ancient Greece. We will be Ancient Greece investigating the four main periods of the Greek Empire. By exploring different kinds of historical sources and evaluate their usefulness. We will find out about Alexander the Great as well as researching lifestyle and clothing.
Geography
Weather and Climate. In this unit we will learn about the difference between weather and climate.
Art
We will be looking at the work of Paul Klee.
D&T
Our focus is textiles we will be designing and making a pencil case. We will refine and develop our sew skills to create our own pencil cases.
PSHE/RSE
We have two topics that we are looking at: Living in the Wider World. Our second topic is Money Matters where we will find out different aspects of looking after our money
RE
We will complete two units of learning
Comparing Christian and Hindu answers to questions
And Finding Reasons to Care in stories from the bible.
French
We have two topics to cover- What time is it? They will learn how to tell the time: o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. They will learn how to read timetables and TV schedules and answer simple questions about these.
In Holidays and Hobbies they will learn key vocabulary related to holidays, weather and seasons, sports and hobbies. They will learn specific vocabulary of how to say what the weather is like, temperatures, names of different sports and hobbies. They will learn key phrases connected to the themes.
Music
We will be continuing to play our instruments- the trumpet, the trombone, the flute or the clarinet. The children will put on a concert for their families.

Please support your child with learning their spellings. We have weekly words to learn which are on Spellings Shed. They have an assessment on Friday. Every child in Year four has their own log in.
