Literacy

Our key text is the Three Little Pigs -

This term, the children will learn their Set 1 sounds. These are the first sounds needed to begin reading and writing.

How you can help at home

Practise saying the sounds every day.
Use pure sounds (e.g. "m" not "muh").
Play sound spotting games around the home.
Encourage your child to blend sounds together to read simple words.

This term, the children will begin using Mini Mash to develop their early computing skills. They will learn how to log in, explore simple activities and use technology safely.

You can help at home by:

Logging into Mini Mash with your child.
Encouraging them to talk about the activities they have completed.
Exploring age-appropriate games and creative tools together.
Reminding them to ask an adult before using technology.

What are hospitals like now? What rules do we have in hospitals now - regarding hygiene?

Look at pictures of wards and operating theatres from now and in the past. How have they changed?

Briefly look at a famous nurse from the past - Florence Nightingale. Who was she? What did she do?
