English
We will be focusing on developing our writing skills, particularly improving our grammar. Our learning will be based on The Ironman by Ted Hughes,
Revolting Rhymes by Roald Dahl—This book is filled with revolting rhymes. (Be warned: It's no ordinary Once upon a time). There's poor Cindy whose heart was torn to shreds, because her Prince, he chops off heads! Snow White's dwarfs although awfully nice, are guilty of one shocking vice . . .And what becomes of Goldilocks, that nasty thieving little louse, when she goes sneaking around the three bear's house . ..We will also read the Life of Neil Armstrong an autobiography based on the life of the first man to walk on the moon. Remember to read on Bug Club and complete home learning.
Maths
The topic we will cover are:
Decimals, Measurement including money Money and Statistics. Geometry which includes properties of shape , position and direction
Science
In science we will discover more about Dangers to Living Things-‘How can changes to the environment affect the things that live there?’ They will construct and interpret food chains, identifying producer, prey, consumer and
predator. We will realise that the availability of food is an important factor when considering how animals respond to change in the environment. We will be
thinking about Health and Prevention : Identify the different types of teeth in humans and their simple functions. Learn about dental health and the benefits of good oral hygiene and dental flossing, including regular check-ups at the dentist.
Computing
We will working on writing our own programmes using Logo. We will also find out how to make our own animations.
History
Our Topic is Ancient Greece. We will be Ancient Greece investigating the four main periods of the Greek Empire. By exploring different kinds of historical sources and evaluate their usefulness. We will find out about Alexander the Great as well as researching lifestyle and clothing.
Geography
Land and Sea - Earthquakes. We will be looking at the causes of earthquakes and discover how the plate boundaries of the Earth, are constantly moving, which cause earthquakes. We will discover the different precautions that people can take to minimise the damage caused by earthquakes.
Art
We will be looking at the work of Paul Klee.
D&T
Our focus is textiles we will be designing and making a monster
PSHE
We have two topics that we are looking at: Living in the Wider World. Our second topic is Money Matters where we will find out different aspects of looking after our money.
