Summer Term

English

 In the summer term we are going to be exploring a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts, as well as poetry. We will be retelling stories, writing diary entries, letters and learning to recite and perform a range of poems. 

Maths

In maths we will be looking at measuring height, length, time, mass, capacity and temperature as well as learning about position and direction through shape.

Science

In science we are going to continue to explore living things and their habitats. We will also be looking at a range of everyday materials and what they can and can't be used for. 


Computing

In computing we will be looking at creating pictures in digital form, presenting our ideas and revisiting coding to continue to develop our skills. 

 


History

In history we are going to be researching some of the world's famous explorers and learning about their expeditions. We will also be learning about the Great Fire of London.

Geography

In geography we are going to be exploring our world, land and sea. Travelling across the globe to compare and contrast a range of countries and continents. 

Art

 In art, we are going to be researching artists Paul Kee and Bridget Riley to see how they used pattern in their art work. 

D&T

In D&T we are going to be exploring structures and mechanisms. Designing, creating and evaluating our own structures and mechanisms.  

PSHE

In PSHE, we will look at 'Health and Wellbeing - Growing Up' and 'Living in the Wider World - Money Matters'. 

RE

In RE, we are going to look at some 'big questions' and how they can puzzle us. 

Online Safety

 This term we are going to learn about reaching out while online and how we can safely communicate with others, as well as looking at the time that we spend online and what affect this can have. 

Music

We have got two units of music this half term. Unit one is about friendship and unit two is about reflecting, rewinding and replaying all of the skills we have learned across the year. 

Spelling

The children will continue to be sent spellings home each week. They will be assessed on a Thursday afternoon. 

PE

In PE this term, we are going to be engaging in athletics, net and wall skills and striking and fielding through a range of games and activities.
