English


We will be reading a number of text in our Literacy lessons this term; including Baby Goes to Market,  Handa's Surprise, Bringing the rain to Kapiti Plain and Lazy Lion. During the second half of the Summer term we will be reading The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch, At the Beach, Sharing a shell, the See-Saw and The Snail and the Whale.

Our writing focus will be to write simple sentences using our knowledge of tricky words and our phonic knowledge.






Maths

We will be busy bees in Maths during the Summer Term. Our lessons will include; counting forwards and backwards, using recurring patterns to help our counting, adding and subtracting, finding doubles, recognising numbers, estimating, finding more and fewer and finding odd and even numbers.

Wow! We will be reall gorwing our Maths brains this term!



Science

In science this term we will be finding out all about healthy eating. 

We will plant and grow fruit, we will find out which foods are healthy and finding out what fruit needs in order to grow.

During the scond half of Summer term we will be finding out about different materials. Which materials are waterproof? We will also test materials to see if they float or sink.

Computing

We are developing our computing skills on Purple Mash this term. We are going to learn:

To be able to open photos in

Purple Mash


To be able to identify the main

parts of a computer





History

We will be finding out about a Key Historical figure in History. We will be finding out all about Amelia Earhart. Who was she? What did she do? Why was she such a famous explorer?


During the second half of the summer term we will be finding out all abot seaside holidays in the past

Geography

To begin with this half term we will be finding out all about the continent of Africa. 

We will be asking key questions:

What is Africa like? 

What would you wear to these regions?

Are there any dangers?

How would you travel to these destinations?

How far away are these regions from each other and from our country?


During the second half of Summer Term we will be finding out about popular holiday destinations in the UK. 

Art

 We will be learning about the artists Marc Chagall and Louise Nevelson. We will  be experiments with wax resist techniques and delving into the world of sculpture.


D&T

We will be completing some food technology this term. We will be finding out about food hygiene and making some tasty fruit kebabs.

We will also be creating a new home for a sea creature using the appropriate materials.

PSHE


 


RE

During RE we will be thinking about where we belong. We will talk about respect and reading religious stories that encourage us to think about how we respect each other.

We will also be thinking about what is special about or world. How can we look after our world? What are our favourite things to see in nature?

 



French


 


Music

During Charanga music we will following the topic of Big Bear Funk. We will be completing the following activities:


 


PE

We will be completing a dance theme this term in PE. We will be creating movements and putting them together to create short dance routines. We will also be learning how to work together in partners and groups.


Online Safety

 During online safety we will be learning how to login to a computer and finding out about password security. We will also try to remember usernames and passwords.


PE Day is Monday

Home Phonics reading books should be sent to school every day.

Reading books will be changed by your child's phonics teacher when they have completed each book in school
