Spring Term

English
Our theme this half term is Space. We will be enjoying lots of stories based around our topic including Aliens love Underpants, How to Catch a Star and The Way Back Home. We will be learning how to write short captions and sentences and labelling objects.
Maths
In our Maths starters we will be completing the following; rote counting to 20, forwards and backwards. Saying the number that is 1 more or 1 less using numbers to 10. Learning number bonds to 5 and some to 10. Counting in 2s and recognising numbers.
During our White Rose Maths topics we will be measuring and comparing length and mass. We will be understanding the composition of the numbers 5, 6, 7 and 8.
Science
Our scientific focus will be based around Space. We will be finding out about what the Earth looks like from space. We will discover what the moon is made from and name the planets in our Solar System. We will also find out how people have travelled to the moon.
Computing
In our online safety sessions this term we will learn how to manage online information. We will talk about the devices we can use to access information on the internet.
History
Our Historical focus this term is all about Space explorers. We will find out who landed on the moon first. We will learn about the astronaut Mae Jemison and discover how she became an astronaut.
Geography
Our Geographical focus this term is seasonal - We will be looking at the changes that happen to the Earth in Winter and then Spring.
Art
Our artist focus this term is Gustav Klimt. We will look at the patterns and colours he used and incorporate them into our own paintings.
D&T
We will be improving our sewing skills this half term. We will learn how to join fabrics together using a needle and thread.
PSHE
In PSHE we will identify what makes a good friend. We will recognise that all families are different and identify who our friends and family are.
RE
In RE we will be finding out about special places of worship. We will learn about Churches, Synagogues and Mandirs.
Online Safety
In our online safety sessions this term we will learn how to manage online information. We will talk about the devices we can use to access information on the internet.
Music
In our Charanga music this term we will play rhythm games and learn new songs. We will explore pitch and will begin to make our own sounds with voices and instruments.
PE
In PE we will become Pirates! We will be developing our travelling movement skills such as running, jumping, hopping and skipping.
